The big debate: Matte or Glossy Finish

You've picked your design, colors, fonts, wording and selected the perfect photo(s) for your birth announcement. Now the last decision to make is what kind of paper : matte or glossy finish.

This is a personal decision, but I will give you a few properties of each to help facilitate your decision.

Matte: Photos printed on matte paper have less glare in bright light and withstand much more touching. If you have a black and white photo, these tend to look better on a duller, matte finish. The drawback of this type of finish is the colors. They tend to not look as vibrant and crisp as a glossy finish.

Glossy: Photos printed on glossy paper have clearer colors and a much more vibrant look. And some people just like the shiny finish. The main drawback of these is that fingerprints tend to be more of a problem. And they also tend to have a lot of glare when viewing the images.

Both finishes make a great canvas for your photo birth announcements and it comes down to your own personal taste.

We offer both types of paper, and there is a section to enter your choice on the ordering page.

There is no wrong choice, only personal choice.

How to word your thank you notes

When composing your thank you notes there are a few general rules you will want to follow. Thank you notes are brief but sincere.
Say thank you in the opening line, following it with mentioning the gift specifically. Another important aspect of the thank you note is telling the person how you plan to use it. If the gift was money, tell them what you are spending it on, or if it was a household item, where you are putting it or how you are using it.
End the note thanking them again for their generosity.
Remember, they took the time to go out and get you a gift, you need to take the time to write a heartfelt note expressing your sincere thanks.

Will people feel obligated to send gifts after receiving a birth announcement?

Sending out birth announcements is a social custom that has been around a long time. Recipients know that you are just spreading the wonderful news of your new addition and feel no obligation to send a gift.
Do not put any gift registry information on your announcements. If they feel inclined to purchase a gift for baby, they will find out on their own what is still needed and where to get it from other friends and family.
Be sure to pick up some thank you notes when you order your announcements. These are good to have on hand when gifts do start arriving. We offer coordinating thank you notes with more being added everyday!

Birth Announcement Wording

Wondering what to include on your baby's birth announcement? That is completely up to you! Typically, you include the basics: Baby's name, date of birth, time of birth, weight, length and parents names.
The formality of the announcement is up to your taste. Either you can just make the stats numerical or you can go the more formal route and spell them out.
If there is an older sibling, some parents like to include their names as well to welcome the new baby.
You may also include some type of introduction such as: "Introducing...", "We welcome with love", or "Our new baby boy (girl) is here."
Ultimately, the choice of wording is up to you. Take your time to make it what suits you and your growing family. After all, this joyous occasion is all about you and your new little one.

Stay tuned for more tips and tricks!

Who should you send your photo birth announcements too?

OK...baby is almost here! You have picked out the design, and you are getting ready to get your mailing list ready. Who do you send an announcement to? A new baby is news worthy of sharing with everyone you know. Organize your list to ensure you don't leave anyone out to avoid any hurt feelings. Start out your list with your immediate family first, then add your close friends. After that, you can add other distant relatives and friends that you don't see that often. And finally, you can include neighbors and co-workers.

Remember, everyone loves to hear about new babies, even people you don't see that often. A baby is a time to celebrate for everyone! If in doubt as whether to send one, send it!

When to send out your birth announcements

New moms and dads are so busy with their new baby, but they still want to get out those birth announcements in a timely manner. Eager to share the news with family and friends, most parents send their announcements very soon after the birth. If that's not the case, and you are just too busy (say, twins), it is within acceptable limits to send them out up to six months after the birth.

If this happens to be the case, a great idea is to include the actual birth photo and also a more recent one to show people how much s/he has grown. We all know how fast babies can change and you family and friends will want to see that. Don't get discouraged and feel like you have to rush this decision. There is plenty of time!

Follow my other tips and tricks and get other great ideas for Birth Announcement time savers.

We are finally in the Blogging World!

We are so excited to start our new adventure in the Blogging World.

I started this business 2 years ago out of my home studio to allow me to spend time with my three young sons. After creating invitations and announcements for my own kids, I knew this was what I wanted to do everyday. I love being creative and having a finished product to be proud of. Each of my children have their custom creations in their baby books for them to look through for years to come.

There is nothing more exciting than celebrating your children whether it be announcing their birth or celebrating birthday milestones with a fun party.

I want to have a lot of different choices to find the perfect product for your event. If you don't see exactly what you want, let me know and I can create it. Your satisfaction is my #1 goal!

I will be continually highlighting new designs and old favorites for you to see, so keep checking back.

I look forward to creating with you!
